Success and Determined Rides for Harrogate Nova at Hog Hill Grand Prix

Round 4 of the National Youth Circuit Series saw Bobby (U12), Erin (U14 girls), Jake (U14) and Dan (U16) racing on the Hog Hill circuit near London, while Josh (U16) was in action over in Belgium riding a kermesse for the Scottish national team.

Strong Start for Bobby and Jake

The day kicked off well with Bobby taking a great 3rd place in the U12 race. This was followed by Jake in the U14 race, who produced a storming ride and took 2nd place after a demanding uphill sprint.

Erin Battles Through Mechanical Issues

Erin was also on a good ride in the U14 girls’ race, but an unfortunately timed mechanical limited the gears available for the sprint. Despite this setback, Erin still came home in 8th place.

Dan Shows Determination in the U16 Race

More drama followed in the searing heat of the day, as Dan had to come into the pits to change his bottles part way through the U16 race.

Dan chased back on and then attacked, going for the win. The field clearly knew Dan’s capabilities and chased him down, but despite all this, Dan still managed a strong 18th position.

Josh in the Break in Belgium

In the meantime, over in Belgium, Josh was riding a kermesse for the Scottish national team. It was looking good, with Josh getting into the winning break of five, but a mechanical saw him dropped from the break.

Resilience Across a Dramatic Weekend

Despite the drama of the weekend, the Harrogate Nova Youth Team raced well, achieved some great results and showed the team’s determination, resilience and enjoyment in riding and racing together.
