National Series Success and Podium Finishes for Harrogate Nova

The final round of The British Cycling National Youth Circuit Series took place in Wyke on August 22nd with the Harrogate Nova Youth Racing Team well represented.
Bobby Whatmuff Takes the Under 12 Win
The Under 12 race was fast and furious and despite multiple attacks the race came down to a bunch sprint with Nova’s Bobby Whatmuff surging ahead to take the win.
Podium Finishes for Erin and Jake
Next up was Erin Denwood in the Under 14 girls race. Whilst being one of the youngest riders in the field Erin was active throughout eventually coming in 3rd on the day and 4th overall in the UK circuit series.
In the Under 14 boys race Nova were represented by Jake Thornton. The rapid pace shattered the race leaving 8 riders at the front of affairs including Jake. In the final sprint Jake produced a strong sprint finishing 3rd and 2nd overall in the series.
Dan Shipton Wins the Under 16 Series
The final event was the Under 16 boys race. Dan Shipton from Nova attacked early on with one other rider and build up a healthy 30 second lead. Sensing the danger a number of teams made a concerted effort to bring Dan back. Eventually two riders escaped the bunch with Dan winning the bunch sprint for 3rd and with it the overall UK circuit series for the Under 16 category.
National Gravel Bronze for Josh Stewart
Further afield Josh Stewart was in action at the National Gravel Racing Championship at Ae Forest in Scotland. Capitalising on his good form displayed at The Scottish National Circuit Championship Josh did a great ride to take the bronze medal on the day.
Hill Climb Victory for Patrick Kavanaugh
Finally with Autumn just around the corner the start of the hill climb season saw Patrick Kavanaugh claim the overall victory at the Kildale hill climb over near Whitby.
A solid weekend of racing for the Harrogate Nova Youth Racing Team all of whom rode strongly, achieved some great results and showed Nova to be one of the strongest youth cycling teams in the UK.
